Upgrade to ProFrequently asked questions
- Can I transcribe a Google Meet recording for free?
- Yes. The first 10 minutes of any recording are transcribed for free with no account required. Signed-up free accounts get 10 minutes per month. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited transcription.
- Does Google Meet have built-in transcription?
- Google Meet's own transcription is available on some paid Google Workspace tiers. ConvertAudioToText works with any recording regardless of your Workspace plan, adds speaker labels to identify each participant, and produces AI summaries and action items that Meet's native transcript does not.
- What file format does Google Meet record in?
- Google Meet records to MP4 video and saves it in the meeting host's Google Drive. You can upload the MP4 directly or share the Drive link (set to Anyone with the link can view) and we'll fetch it automatically.
- How accurate is the transcription?
- Accuracy depends on audio quality and language. For a clear English Google Meet recording with minimal background noise, expect over 90% word-level accuracy. Speaker diarization identifies speakers but does not know their names — it labels them Speaker 1, Speaker 2, etc.
- Can I transcribe a Meet recording in a language other than English?
- Yes. ConvertAudioToText supports 99+ languages. Select the language before you upload to ensure the model optimizes for the right phoneme set. AI summaries are currently English-only.
- How do I get the recording out of Google Meet?
- After the meeting, the host receives an email with a Drive link. Open Google Drive, find the recording (usually in 'Meet Recordings'), share it with 'Anyone with the link can view', then paste that link on our transcription page — or download the MP4 and upload it directly.
