Transcribe recordings from inside Claude and ChatGPT
Add the ConvertAudioToText connector to your assistant once. After that you can paste a recording link into the chat and ask for the transcript, a summary or the action items. You sign in with your ConvertAudioToText account, and a free account works within its normal free limits.
Connector URL
https://api.convertaudiototext.com/mcpThe connector signs you in with OAuth. You never paste a password or an API key into the assistant.
Add it to Claude
- 1In Claude on the web or the desktop app, open Settings, then Connectors.
- 2Choose Add custom connector, name it ConvertAudioToText and paste the connector URL.
- 3Select Connect. Sign in to ConvertAudioToText (or create a free account), then select Allow.
- 4In a chat, turn the connector on from the tools menu and ask for a transcription.
On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner may need to add the connector for the organization first.
In Claude Code, run:

Add it to ChatGPT
- 1Custom connectors in ChatGPT need developer mode, which is available on some ChatGPT plans. Turn it on under Settings, Apps, Advanced settings.
- 2Create a new app or connector, paste the connector URL and choose OAuth as the authentication.
- 3Sign in to ConvertAudioToText when asked, then select Allow.
- 4Start a chat, add the connector from the tools menu and ask for a transcription.

- Summarize my last transcription and list the action items.
- Show my recent transcriptions and read me the newest one.
What the connector can do
| transcribe_url | Starts a transcription from a public audio or video link and returns a job id. |
| transcribe_status | Says whether a job is queued, processing, completed or failed. |
| get_transcript | Returns the transcript with timestamps and speaker labels, and a link to the editor. |
| summarize | Returns the summary, plus key points and action items when your plan includes them. |
| list_recent | Lists your 10 most recent transcriptions. |
It cannot change your plan or billing, and it cannot delete anything.
Limits and files
- Each transcription uses minutes from your plan, exactly as it would on the website. The free plan has a daily file limit and a per-file length limit, and the key points, action items and decisions in a summary come with the Weekly Pass or a paid plan. When you reach a limit, the assistant tells you which one it was. Every plan is described on the plans page.
- Assistants cannot hand a file from your device to the connector. Upload the file in your dashboard and then ask the assistant to read your latest transcription.
- Transcription runs in the background. A one-hour recording usually takes a few minutes, and the assistant checks on it for you.
Privacy and disconnecting
The assistant only receives the transcripts and summaries it asks for while you use the connector. To disconnect, remove the connector in your assistant. Signing out of ConvertAudioToText also ends every connection, and you sign in again from the assistant the next time you use it.
