Voice Memo to Text: Transcribe iPhone and Android Voice Memos

Upload a voice memo or saved voicemail and get it back as text you can search, edit and paste

Spoken language:

No account? The first 30 minutes of any file are free. Create a free account for premium on your first file.

Share the memo from your phone to Files or your computer, then upload it here. iPhone Voice Memos save as M4A, and Android recorders save as M4A, AMR, 3GP or MP3: all of them work. You get the text on screen in the same session, ready to copy.

Why turn voice memos into text here

Phone formats accepted

M4A, AMR, 3GP, CAF, MP3, WAV, OGG and OPUS upload as they are, with no conversion step on your side.

Long memos too

A ramble on a walk or a lecture recorded on your phone goes through as one file, with timestamps all the way through.

Clean notes from a ramble

The voice memo AI template rewrites the memo as clean prose and pulls out to-dos, decisions and a one-line summary.

Search later

With an account, every memo you transcribe is saved in your dashboard, so the idea you recorded last month is a search away.

How it works

1

Get the file off your phone

iPhone: open Voice Memos, tap the memo, Share, then Save to Files. Android: share the recording or copy it from the Recordings folder.

2

Upload it here

Drop the file on this page. The language is detected for you.

3

Copy or export

Read and fix the text, then copy it or download it.

From a ramble to usable notes

A raw memo transcript keeps every pause word and restart, which is what you want when you need the exact wording. When you want notes instead, the voice memo AI template rewrites the same content as clean prose in your own voice, without adding anything you did not say, and lists the to-dos, decisions and questions you raised.

The AI summary, action items, AI templates, AI chat and translation work on your first file with a free account, and on every file with a paid plan, the Weekly Pass or a minutes top-up.

Tips for memos that transcribe well

  • Hold the phone a hand's width from your mouth, with the microphone end toward you.
  • Wind and traffic are the hardest noises to remove. Turn your back to the wind or step inside.
  • Say names and unusual words a little slower. You can also add them to your custom vocabulary in Settings.
