Which kinds of Armenian it covers

  • Eastern Armenian (Armenia)
  • Western Armenian (diaspora)

One Armenian setting covers both. Our test used Eastern Armenian; Western Armenian speech is transcribed with the same setting.

How Armenian transcripts are written

Transcripts are written in the Armenian alphabet, with the Armenian full stop (։).

In our test on read sentences, both the free preview and the signed-in transcript came back in Armenian script with the Armenian full stop. The free preview was closer to the reading than the account transcript in this test, so review word breaks either way.

What people transcribe in Armenian

Diaspora media

Interviews and community programs in Armenian come back with timestamps.

Church and cultural events

Talks and events become text you can share with the community.

Research and family history

Interviews with older speakers become text you can keep and translate.

Tip for Armenian recordings

Word breaks are the most common fix in Armenian transcripts. Read long lines once and split joined words.

Translate a Armenian transcript

Open a finished transcript in your dashboard, choose Translate and pick a target language from a list of 99+. You get the translated lines with their timestamps, and you can copy them or download TXT or SRT.

Translation needs an account. It is included on paid plans and the Weekly Pass, and with the first file on a free account.

FAQ

Is the transcript in Armenian script?

Yes. Transcripts use the Armenian alphabet and the Armenian full stop.

Does it work for Western Armenian?

Use the same Armenian setting. Our own test was on Eastern Armenian, so review Western Armenian spelling closely.

Is there a sample transcript on this page?

Not yet. We only publish samples made from audio we can confirm is in the public domain. We tested this language with our own test recordings, on both the free preview and a signed-in account, before adding the page.

Is the Armenian transcription free?

Yes. Armenian files run on our premium engine with speaker labels, up to 2 hours a month on a free account. You can transcribe up to 30 Armenian files a day, up to 30 minutes each, for free, and your first file can run up to an hour. Reading, copying, the full editor and TXT downloads stay free. Action items, email drafts, AI summaries and DOCX, PDF, SRT, VTT and JSON downloads come with your first file, the Weekly Pass ($9.99 for 20 hours over 7 days) and paid plans. Full-length files from $8.33/mo billed yearly.

What Armenian file formats are supported?

All common audio and video: MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, AAC, OGG, MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI, MKV. Upload directly or paste a URL (YouTube, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.).
