Which kinds of Basque it covers
- Standard Basque (Batua)
- Gipuzkoan and Biscayan speech
- Navarrese and Northern Basque (France)
One Basque setting covers these speakers. The transcript is written in standard Basque spelling.
How Basque transcripts are written
Transcripts use standard Basque (Euskara Batua) spelling.
We tested Basque on a real radio interview, not read sentences. The free preview kept a Spanish filler (bueno) as the speaker said it, and dialect forms were written close to how they sounded. Expect to tidy those parts.
What people transcribe in Basque
Radio and local media
Basque radio interviews and talk shows come back with timestamps, so you can find a quote fast.
Education in Basque
Lessons and lectures taught in Euskara become notes that students can search.
Council and association meetings
Meetings held in Basque become minutes, and you can translate them to Spanish or French.
Tip for Basque recordings
Many Basque speakers mix in Spanish or French words. Choose Basque for mostly Basque speech; if a recording switches to Spanish for long parts, choose Auto-detect.
Translate a Basque transcript
Open a finished transcript in your dashboard, choose Translate and pick a target language from a list of 99+. You get the translated lines with their timestamps, and you can copy them or download TXT or SRT.
Translation needs an account. It is included on paid plans and the Weekly Pass, and with the first file on a free account.

FAQ
Does it handle spoken dialects, not only Batua?
The Basque setting is used for all speakers, and the transcript aims at standard spelling. In our radio test, dialect forms were written close to how they sounded, so review them.
Can I translate Basque to Spanish?
Yes. Open the finished transcript in your dashboard and choose Translate. Spanish and French are common choices.
Is there a sample transcript on this page?
Not yet. We only publish samples made from audio we can confirm is in the public domain. We tested this language with our own test recordings, on both the free preview and a signed-in account, before adding the page.
Is the Basque transcription free?
Yes. Basque files run on our premium engine with speaker labels, up to 2 hours a month on a free account. You can transcribe up to 30 Basque files a day, up to 30 minutes each, for free, and your first file can run up to an hour. Reading, copying, the full editor and TXT downloads stay free. Action items, email drafts, AI summaries and DOCX, PDF, SRT, VTT and JSON downloads come with your first file, the Weekly Pass ($9.99 for 20 hours over 7 days) and paid plans. Full-length files from $8.33/mo billed yearly.
What Basque file formats are supported?
All common audio and video: MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, AAC, OGG, MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI, MKV. Upload directly or paste a URL (YouTube, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.).
